Did you know there are lists out there* that categorize the eco-friendliness of the seafood you are eating?
Each list categorizes the seafood based on several different criteria. The basic idea is that they take in to account the animal’s habitat & population, how they are caught/farmed, and the management of the species (i.e. overfishing) to create a best & worst list. It’s easy to use and, from my limited use of the list, is do-able. So check it out before you head to the supermarket or restaurant:
- Sustainable Seafood by eartheasy , my personal favorite
- The Environmental Defense Fund’s Seafood Selector page
*And by out there I mean on the Internet.
